DIY Play Dough - Quick & Easy.

Play Dough is a classic, we have all made it at some stage of our lives.

The smell brings back so many childhood memories for me.

This simple recipe is adjustable. Its all about the feel you want it too have.

We usually halve this recipe to make 2 colours as it it quite a big batch.

INGREDIENTS

1.5 - 2.5 cups of water (Adjust this as you go, until you get the consistency you want)

1 1/4 cups of salt

1 1/2 Tbsp. Cream of Tartar

5 Tbsp. oil (you can use whatever you choose, I prefer vegetable oil)

2-3 cups of flour (once again adjust the amount as you go to get the consistency you want)

Food colouring of your choice

Now let the kids get their hand dirty with the mixing! It's the best part.

Play Dough is obviously very fun and the possibilities are endless, but we like to make activities educational when we can. Here is a letter recognition activity we tried out.

We used paper cut out letters and the kids simply rolled out play dough sausages to make the letters. Finished off with sprinkle decorations of course! Very easy but gives them an opportunity to think about the letter they are making, we had conversations about the sounds the letters make and words we could think of beginning with the letter they were making. Just subtle literacy practise.

We hope you enjoyed the read, and maybe got some literacy learning tips and tricks out of it. we would love to here your feed back so feel free to leave a comment.
